Question
So, a few days ago, as I was going over some of the financial aspects of future treatments, I ran across an Article online about the fertility drug "black market." In the article, a woman was discussing the dangers of buying such drugs online, and the benefits. She said she would do it again and again, despite the risks, anything to start a family. So..my question to you. Have any of you purchased your medications online from an individual seller? I have to admit...I'm tempted. $24 for a vial of Menopur vs. $66 (at a discount pharmacy). Really...tempted. However, my "good girl" morale is kind of freaking me out. I told my husband, that I was considering trying it, and that I felt dirty. His response was that I'd end up in jail, but I just wanted to see if any of you gals had any experience...good, or bad.

I would NEVER buy drugs online from an individual. You just never know what you're going to get. That being said, I did buy drugs from the UK, which my doc frowns upon, but it's the same exact meds, manufactured by the same company. Meds that would have cost us $8,000 in the US cost $3,000 from Britain. www.ivfmeds.com
ReplyDeleteThe reason it's so much cheaper there is because the government has price caps on how much drug companies can charge.

I don't think I would buy drugs from an individual b/c you don't know if it's what they say it is. I would consider a discount pharmacy though.
ReplyDeleteIf your protocol calls for Ganirelix; I have 5 vials you can have.
I've been researching. I went to the ivfmeds.com & that menopur is the best deal!! I wonder what Dr. L would have to say about it? I nominate you to ask him.
ReplyDeleteI do know med's are cheaper in the UK and Canada, as well as Europe. When I lived in Europe I was floored by the difference is cost, but its due to strong government regulation.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents worth of advice, stick with what you know :) Maybe check out the UK or Canada.
Hope you are feeling some better...sending you a HUG.
Thanks for your responses. I've still got time to figure out what to do about the meds. Also, Thanks Rach for your nomination, I in turn nominate you to ask Dr. Long about ordering internationally. =) You'll see him before I do. hehe
