Something to be excited about...

So, it's been pretty difficult to find anything to be excited about since our loss, but my husband and I just had a pretty exciting conversation.

We decided:
1. We are meant to be parents.
2. We will continue to try for our own child.
3. We are going to start the adoption process!

So, here is what I need from you gals. We have no idea where/how to start. Tell me EVERYTHING you know about adoption.

  1. Exciting! I know NOTHING about the adoption process, so I can't really help you there. Are you coming to the next Resolve meeting? I'm sure some of the girls there would have lots of advice!

  2. Girl, I will share everything you want to know! But lets get together when you are out of school. Maybe you can come early for the Resolve meeting, or earlier if you want. Too much to type.

  3. We just attended an international adoption seminar and it was amazing but not for everyone. There are many adoption options to fit all needs. Wishing you the best of luck no matter how you decide to adopt.

  4. I don't know anything either....BUT I'm so excited for you!!!! :)

  5. You guys will definitely be parents. Believe it. It may not be in the way you planned or the timeline you'd imagined, but it will happen!

I would start by finding a local agency and going to a seminar! Good luck. There are some good adoption support sites out there too, I've heard.

  6. You know, I've been thinking a lot about adoption myself these past few days and I don't really know why. I'm going to try and talk to DH about it tonight and see what his thoughts are. We can learn together on this! And good for you guys for making this decision.

  7. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond on here. My computer is broken and it is very hard to comment from my phone. Anyway, I work for Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections and would love to talk to you about your options if you would like. Give me a call at some point (334)673-0008. Or you can email me specific questions that you I can point you in the right direction and give you a list of agencies that you can begin contacting when you are ready.
